Drivers be warned - Article from Knox Leader Newspaper, Tuesday 15th November 2016
KNOX drivers coming through Ringwood are being warned to watch out, with two new speed and red light
cameras to be switched on after testing.
The cameras at the inter- section of Maroondah High-way and Ringwood Bypass and the intersection of Maroondah Highway and Mount Dandenong Rd will be turned on if they pass tests.
The cameras operate as normal during the testing period and may flash if a car speeds through an intersection or runs a red light, but no fines will be issued.
There are seven new cam eras being installed across the state.
Locations are chosen by a committee made up of representatives from Victoria Police, Vic Roads and the Department of Justice and Regulation.
The committee also considers requests for cameras from the public, local councils, community organisations and MPs.
Department spokeswoman Cathy Le said cameras were essential in Victoria’s road safety strategy.
Cameras reduced accidents by 47 per cent at one intersection and reduced accidents on roads leading to the intersection by 26 per cent, according to the Cameras Save Lives website.
The state’s road toll stands at 243, which is 24 more than at this time last year. For a full list of sites, go to camerassavelives.vic.gov.au

Just a quick note to tell you about Waze - a free, community-based traffic and navigation app that I thought you might like.
When you download Waze, you not only get free navigation, but also become part of the local driving community in your area.
You can join forces with other drivers nearby to beat traffic, report fixed and mobile speed cameras which are then displayed in real-time.
This save unwanted fines, time and improve everyone's daily commute..
Download it http://bit.ly/wazemail and check it out for yourself!
If folk are not aware with all the letter box advertising and television campaigns, the Victorian state election takes place on the 29th of November 2014
If you are tired of the continuous punishment of honest Mums and Dads caught speeding, then its time to to make a change and get rid of speed cameras.
One television advertisement states "Your vote will help shape Victoria" so you can make a real difference how you use your vote.
Do you really want more of the same and the state government to continue denying they are revenue raising?
Its time to make a change so be sure to use your vote wisely as the latest TV campaign so rightly states "Your vote is valuable".
Be sure to ask your local Member of Parliament where they stand on speed cameras and just how the continued use justifies there existence in this state.
So before you cast you vote, voice your concerns and lobby your Member of Parliament for the abolition of these tax-payer funded revenue machines.
The police propaganda machine is in full swing with a new TV campaign feebly trying to justify speed cameras.
The latest campaign - "See the bigger picture" is another attempt to disguise the constant revenue raising efforts.
The bigger picture is actually the Victorian government making budget cuts across an number of sectors and not being able to repair roads.
So how are they going to make - up some of the short-fall?
You guessed it - more mobile speed cameras.
Are you sick and tired of this senseless money making machine, then there is something you can do about it - make it an election issue.
Its time to contact your local member of parliament and also the opposing member to find out where they stand on speed cameras revenue raising.
Its time to get rid of these leaches as they are a drain on Victorian tax payers.
Think about this - how much does it cost to purchase one of these vehicles - $29,000 plus on-road costs, plus camera costs, camera installation costs, radar antenna array, lamps, bull-bar, operator salary of say $50,000 per annum, vehicle insurance (they really need to this!) fuel expenses (say $200 per week) and vehicle servicing costs?
Lets say a conservative $150,000 to $200,000 set-up and with on-going operating costs.
Then its possible to speculate that the return on investment is going to be in excess of $1,000,000 per annum??
This means that its the tax payer who is paying for this unnecessary menace which sole purpose is revenue raising.
If you do nothing about this situation then it only going to continue and so will the taxes and speeding fines.
Here are collection of mobile speed cameras snapped at various locations.
These vehicles are not saving lives but raising revenue!
Check in here on a regular basis and keep a log of the registration numbers and locations as it might just save you from making another "involuntary donation"
Be proactive and develop a network of friends and relatives, let them know where these revenue raising vehicles are located.

This camera operator (licensed bandit) is a new comer to this location as previous camera vehicles are usually a white Toyota Kluger 4WD
These guys are parked here between 2-30 pm and 5-00pm and not found here during the weekend.
The chosen times are obviously coincide with Mums collecting kids from school and workers commuting home from local factories.
The patrol times chosen are no accident as it is a means of maximising the number of photograhs taken to generate fines.
There is obviously a very large pool of camera vehcles that a deliberately rotated around to ensure they are not recognised when frequenting their favourite hunting grounds.
This vehicle was spotted parked illegally on the nature strip - which is a sign to watch for when identifying these licensed bandits.

Here is another photograph of a strategically placed leach.
After carrying out repeated tests whilst decending the hilly section of Miller Road, it was concluded that there was a probable chance of being fined if you were not in a low gear and/or not applying the brake.

The Victorian government will make $750 million in budget cuts over four years to address falling revenue.
The state is expected to post a $137 million surplus for 2012/13, compared to a $155 million surplus forecast in the May budget.
Premier Ted Baillieu says achieving the positive result requires some tough decisions.
He says there would be $750 million in cuts over four years mostly related to reducing back office costs.
"Victoria now has the strongest finances of all the states in Australia," Mr Baillieu said.
The savings measures include an increase in driver's licence renewal fees, and a two per cent efficiency dividend will be implemented across all government departments from January 1, 2014.
Treasurer Kim Wells said the three-year licence fee will increase from $50 to $70, while the 10-year licence fee will rise from $170 to $240.
"The reality with the driver's licence is that it was not paying for itself," he told reporters.
The occupancy requirement for the first home owners grant will be extended from six months to 12 months.
Mr Wells would not rule out further fees and charges increases in next year's budget.
The mid-year budget update released on Friday showed the state faces a $1 billion revenue shortfall.
Here is yet another desperate grab for your hard earned savings
With the state government desperately strapped for cash, the Federal government is also looking to make up ever dwindling revenues.
The latest initiative is to introduce new legislation that makes a grab for cash of any unwary Australian that does not use their bank account on a regular basis.

This really is a poor piece of legislation that has been sneaked through without proper discussion or correctly informing the Australian public.
