QUESTION
I finally fitted a tandem brake master cylinder to my Elan and the result is a good pedal.
However, I have an issue with the brakes locking on, after awhile the brakes realease.
Another Elan owner has suggested that I remove the piston stop (travel restrictor) and blank the hole.
I think this maybe my problem but do you have any advice?

ANSWER
It would be wise to check the following before moving onto modifying the brake master cylinder
1) Check there is a return spring attached to the brake pedal and it is not broken
2) Check the brake pedal free-play - with pedal fully retracted there should be 0.030 inch to 0.120 inch (0.6-3.1 mm)
3) Check the push-rod back clearance - there must be a minimum of a 0.030 inch gap between the push-rod ball and master cylinder piston otherwise the brakes will lock on!
If you discover there is minmal back clearance then Lotus Marques can solve this problem by supplying an adjustable push-rod
