The following information and photographs were kindly provided by Julian Goldacre who owns a turbo-charged Lotus Esprit S3 HC

The top link should be a snug fit on the inner pivot pick-up points.
Because of manufacturing tolerance's, the rear most pick-up bracket may need to be prized gently rearwards (with and adjustable wrench) for the spacers and rod-end to slip into the correct location.

The spacers should be located so the tapered section contacts the rod-end face to provide the correct clearance.

The fixing bolts at either end of the adjustable top link should be tightened to 65ft/lbs.

It would be wise to check all the fixing bolts to see if they are straight - you never know what you might find!
