This new rev limiter is designed to operate with any 4, 6 or 8 cylinder engine that uses standard contact breakers (points), most electronic ignition systems and many aftermarket inductive distributor systems.
This digitally controlled, micro controller based unit provides much greater accuracy (+/-0.01%) than analog systems.
Digital rotary switches permit easy setting and a resolution of 100 RPM steps. This simple but precise rev control eliminates the need for chips and jumpers.
Random spark stealing starts within one spark at the moment when the rev limit is exceeded reducing plug fouling common with repetitive stealing type limiters.
This unit is supplied with two analog filters and one digital filter to prevent coil negative voltage noise.A tachometer output with TTL interface and near 50% duty cycle makes the limiter compatible with modern tachometers. With reverse voltage protection, the limiter has been designed operate over a voltage range of 6 to 18 volts.
A four wire connection to the coil negative terminal, 12 volt power, tachometer, and ground make installation simple. The rev limiter’s compact size (2.5” x 3.0” x 1.4”) makes for easy fitment within any confined engine compartment.
NOTE: This rev limiter is not compatible with capacitive discharge (CD) ignition systems.
The above photograph shows a convenient position to install the Pertronix digital rev limiter in a Lotus Elan
This installation is on the fire wall behind the dashboard where the rev limit switches can still be accessed
