QUESTION
We have a 1994 Lotus Esprit turbo in our workshop that has a small coolant leak that is coming from underneath the inlet manifold.
It is difficult to see exactly where the water is coming from but it appears to be behind the oil pump.
Can you please advise what we should look at to identify this problem?

ANSWER
This coolant leak is most likely coming from the charge-cool pump.
The easiest way to identify this is by placing a dental mirror under the mechanical water pump and inspecting the weep hole.
If the pump is leaking, then you have two options.
1) Rebuild the original pump with new seals and impellor.
2) Install an charge-cool electric pump conversion that can be supplied by Lotus Marques.
