The instructions below are provided by ARP to ensure the correct procedure is followed when installing 3/8"UNF con-rod bolts in any Lotus twin cam engine.
Please note carefully - The original Lotus torque specifications in the workshop manual should be ignored.

Application: General replacement steel rods 3/8"
1) Please check the part numbers for your application against the part number listed on the instruction sheets.
2) Rods should always be re-sized when new bolts are installed
3) Use ARP Moly Assembly Lubricant to lubricate the threads of the bolt and nut face.
4) ARP recommends using the STRETCH METHOD for torquing bolts.
Following instructions for using a stretch gauge.
Stretch bolts to 0.0068" to 0.0072"
5) If you do not have a stretch gauge, follow these steps using the ARP Moly Assembly Lube.
After the rods have been installed into the motor, torque the bolts to 45ft/lbs.
Loosen the bolts.
Torque to 45ft/lbs again.
Loosen the bolts and torque to 45ft/lbs a third and final time.
6) A log should be kept of the original non-torqued length of each bolt.
Bolts that have any permanent deformation or have increased in non-torqued length should be replaced.
