Here is a photograph taken during a rest break whilst travelling from Le Mans to St. Tropez during the annual trip to Switzerland.
Lotus Seven wet weather equipment
A golfing umbrella deployed during inclement weather is the sign of a true Lotus 7 owner - and from personal experience, its useful at traffic lights as well! Where are the "Welsh Crew" and "The Blues Brothers" today?
Winton race circuit provides a series of twists and turns that results an interesting race format for heavier, large capacity engine vehicles competing against small capacity engines installed in lighter race cars. This circuit has a levelling effect where lighter vehicles display an agility advantage in cornering and braking. This phenomenon was well understood by Colin Chapman of Lotus Cars. The concept of the Lotus 7 allowed competitors to drive their vehicle to and from the race track. Mike Byrne has campaigned various race cars over the years and was seen racing his Lotus 7 series 4 at Winton.
Many thanks to Geoff Lee for providing the above photographs
