The owner of this 1988 Stevens body Lotus Esprit has an interesting collection of European vehicles including a Bentley Turbo.
These vehicles share component manufacturers as both are fuel injected by systems from Bosch and both have turbochargers supplied by Garrett AirResearch.
The Esprit was first brought to Lotus Marques from interstate in August 2006 for major "C-Service" which included changing the camshaft timing belt.
In addition to the routine servicing, the brakes were upgraded by installing Goodridge braided brake hoses and EBC Green-stuff brake pads.
This car should have been recalled by the official Australian Lotus Importer as it was missing the plenum chamber strut brace.
A new brace (Lotus part number A910E2444F) was supplied from stock and installed.
This brace is important as it prevents the inlet manifold from cracking or breaking.
The only symptom that the inlet manifold is cracked internally is an invisible coolant leak.

The controversial badge design on the nose of the Esprit was brought about whilst Mike Kimberley was at the helm of Lotus Cars.
