QUESTION
The Lotus Elan +2 I recently purchased has been supplied with a box that contains rubber and felt strips.
What is a mystery to me is, on page BL2 of the parts book Item 33 and 34.
I have found these parts here, packed with all the other pieces .Part 33 and 34( interior weather strip and clips )
Maybe they are not used now ??
If they do go in I cant see how it fits up.
Enclosed is sketch, through the door section where I am trying to sort out

ANSWER
The felt flat section should be attached to the steel internal frame by means of special locking spring clips.
Once installed the felt should press against the external face of the door window glass.
The rubber T-shaped section with the felt facing on the top edge is the external weather seal for the door glass.
The parallel portion of this rubber seal should be sandwiched between the outer fibreglass door skin and the steel internal thin frame.
The weather seal should be "checked-out" or cut in to the frame supports at the door opening and at the quarter-light window.
The seal should be secured by very small self-tapping screws passing through the external door skin, the rubber seal and finally into the steel frame behind.
The self tapping screws will then be hidden by the stainless steel trim strip when applied immediately below the rubber seal.
Be sure to check the fixing screws are not too long and contact the glass as this will create marks or worse break the glass.
