QUESTION
I received the parts this afternoon for my 88 turbo Esprit so I can reinstall the cylinder head.
I have a couple of questions.........what Loctite do I use for the camshaft block to head mating surfaces?
Do I need any Loctite under the cam covers even though there is a thin gasket?
V.L. - Prospect, NSW
ANSWER
Lotus Marques recommends using Loctite 510 between the upper cylinder head face and the camshaft housings.
Clean preparation is absolutely essential and a final application of Loctite cleaner/primer before applying 510.
Aviation Forma gasket No.3 which is a non-hardening sealant (manufactured by Loctite) is recommended for the cam cover gaskets.
This brown coloured sealant is runny, so use sparing when applying with the supplied brush (concealed inside the cap).
