QUESTION
I have been carrying out a partial restoration on my Lotus Elan +2, I don't suppose you remember the correct wiring for the heater fan ballast resistor?
This is the one thing I didn't photograph on dash removal, the wiring diagram suggests a switch live arrangement (minus the resistor itself).
On another Lotus web site I have been told the earth connection is switched, is this correct or another Lotus mystery?
I have an early +2 (pre S model) so the resistor is mounted externally of the heater box on the LHS (passenger-side foot-well).
Lotus Elan +2 heater assembly
The ballast resistor has a double terminal and a single terminal, I'm presuming the following:
Double terminal (being common to one another) = Fan motor live + High speed feed from switch.
Single terminal (feeding double terminal via ballast resistor) = Low speed feed from switch.
Earth = Permanently connected via dash harness to black wire on heater fan.
Hope that's not too confusing, just an educated guess without a multimeter to hand.

ANSWER
Your written description is excellent and you are correct with the connections.
To clarify the wire colours and connections, I have attached a large scan of the wiring diagram from the workshop manual.
This should allow a closer magnified and more detailed view of the wiring diagram.
As the original wiring diagram is not the best quality, there is a simplified diagram below of the heater motor, resistor and switch.
