Do you stock starter ring gear with 110 tooth for 10.00" fly-wheel on my Lotus twincam engine?
Are these ring gear of a specific hardness (ie high strength suited more for inertia starters ) where some ring gear are of lesser strength more suited to pre-engage starters.

ANSWER
There are two ring gears available to suit Lotus twin cam engines so it is necessary to carefully measure any given flywheel.
One ring gear suits the Ford twin cam Escort and the critical dimensions are as follows -
TWIN CAM ESCORT STARTER RING GEAR 10.118" Internal Diameter, 11.20" Outside Diameter, 110 teeth - 1558cc engine.
The other ring gear suits the Lotus Elan, Elan +2 and Europa Twin Cam where the critical dimensions are as follows -
LOTUS ELAN STARTER RING GEAR 10.025" Internal Diameter, 11.20" Outside Diameter, 110 teeth - 1558cc engine.
The ring gears supplied by Lotus Marques are manufactured in USA and are suitable for both inertia type and pre-engaged high torque starter motors.
The ring gear teeth usually have a lead-in chamfer on both sides of the ring gear.
Less expensive ring gears that are designed for pre-engaged starter motors, often have no lead-in chamfer on the teeth.
