I have a 1985 Caterham 7 and I am trying to identify the engine.
It is a twin cam Ford motor maybe out off a lotus elan?
The engine has the following numbers on it - 3020 E6015, T4, H 1888 B
I have spent hours on the net and have been advised you may be able to help.

There is a detailed article written by Bryan Moorcroft which provides a comprehensive understanding of the various four cylinder Ford cylinder blocks.
Whilst this is an excellent document it does not take into consideration the affects of internal corrosion, core-shift (taking place during the casting process) and how this influences the serviceability of any given cylinder block.
The unique engine serial number is usually found stamped on platform above the inlet engine mount.

The photograph above clearly shows the engine number E16238B
Cast into the the centre of the four engine mount bolt holes is a large letter L which indicates this cylinder block was cast by the Ford Motor Company for Lotus
