QUESTION
I have recently replaced the fuel filter and fuel pump on my 1988 Lotus Esprit.
However, the fuel is not being pumped to the pressure regulator but I can hear the fuel pump working.
Both tanks were emptied and now re-filled with fresh fuel.
Any ideas on what could be the problem or suggestions and getting the fuel through?
Are there any priming techniques required?

ANSWER
The fuel pump on your Esprit is a rotary vane type so its self priming and not necessary to prime externally.
Have you checked you have fuel at the pump outlet?
Have you checked the terminal and cable orientation as the pump is polarity sensitive.
If the 12V DC supply cable polarity is transposed then the pump will run but not deliver fuel to the pressure regulator.
