QUESTION
I believe that my Plus 2 engine has two identical camshaft inlet sprockets.
I decided to check, while midway through engine removal. The sprockets are supposed to be slightly different but mine appear to be identical.
They don't have any engraving of "EX" or "IN" on them.
In addition to this there are no part numbers on them
Let me know if you agree and if you think I need an exhaust sprocket to be supplied.

ANSWER
For identification purposes Lotus gave the camshaft sprockets different part numbers and these are as follows
Inlet camshaft sprocket part number A026E6024Z
Exhaust camshaft sprocket part number X026E0305S
When comparing the two sprockets they appear to be identical but the timing marks are in different positions
When setting the initial cam timing it is essential to set the cams as shown in the attached diagram (with the peaks of the lobes on No1 cylinder pointing directly away from one another)
The peripheral timing marks should then be adjacent to each other and line up with the top of the cylinder head
This is the correct cam position with the piston in No1 cylinder at top dead centre

Unfortunately Lotus never put part numbers on the sprockets
The only identification marks were IN (inlet) an EX (exhaust)
As your sprockets do not have any marks then I would suggest they are non-Lotus replacement parts
