QUESTION
Recently I bought a couple of brake/clutch push rods from you and they are really nice bits and I am very happy.
I am plumbing my brake master cylinder, a tandem affair (1969 S4 Elan - LHD).
Can you offer any insight on which port connects to front brakes and which to rear brakes?
Does the forward master cylinder port connect to the rear calipers or the front?
R.B. - Seattle, United States
ANSWER
This is a really good question
Im disadvantaged as I cannot see or measure the brake master cylinder you are trying to install
If you are fitting a tandem cylinder then its advisable to fit a 7/8" bore or metric equivalent
By convention the rear outlet port should feed the rear brake calipers and the front port should feed the front calipers
If you want an improvement in the brake system response time then use a stepped bore master cylinder
