Recently Lotus Marques rebuilt my Ford/Lotus twin cam engine for my Lotus Cortina.
What engine oil should I use in the engine during the running-in period?

ANSWER.
It is recommended that the engine be filled with a good 20W50 mineral oil and a new quality oil filter should be installed.
A suitable oil that is readily available is Valvoline XLD 20W50.
It is important to use a mineral oil and not a synthetic oil so the piston rings and other newly installed components bed-in correctly.
