I was looking to order sufficient parts to rebuild a Lotus Esprit steering rack and was wondering why we need two pinion bearing conversion kits?
We are only rebuilding one steering rack so are two pinion bearing conversion kits required?

ANSWER
Internally within the steering rack, there are two bearings which are located either side of the pinion gear, so two bearing kits are required.
A single kit comprises of a taper roller bearing, sleeve and thrust washer to provide the same critical dimensions as the original ball bearing.
