QUESTION
I now have new number plates plates for my Lotus Elan S4 so I am almost ready to take it for a run.
I have a couple of questions for you:
1) where do people put the front plate?
Mine had the numbers on the grille but doubt we are allowed to cut out the new ones and apply in that fashion anymore.
Also suspect we need all the air we can get coming through the grille in Australia!
2) do you happen to have the pads for the handbrake in stock and if so, could I come and collect from you?
I.W. - Melbourne
ANSWER
I have recently fitted a new narrow type front number plate to an Elan S4 for a customer.
This can be carried quite easily by using two small L-shaped brackets.
If you look at the air-intake where the grille attaches to the bottom lip, there are two fix screws (securing the grille) conveniently spaced and similar width to the number plate.
The brackets need to be long enough to protrude forward so the number plate just clears the body.
The brackets need to point downwards so the number plate can be attached below the air intake opening (so as not to interrupt the incoming air and reduce radiator cooling efficiency)
Lotus Marques stocks rear hand brake pads that are supplied on an exchange basis.
